In Ancient Greek mythology, Agamemnon unites the Greek city states in a war against a rival city, Troy. It is his goal to destroy the city and take full control of the Aegean sea as well as the return of treasure and Helen of Sparta. On the way to Troy, Agamemnon angers the goddess Artemis who tries to prevent the Greeks from their invasion by sending unfavourable winds. This is interpreted as a sign that the invasion should not go ahead and that the only way to appease the gods is for Agamemnon to sacrifice his daughter.
